Notes | Apprenticed as baker with his uncle, Edward Ladd Neame in Canterbury. Bought bakery business in Birchigton, which failed. Then emigrated in 1911 to Calgary where he built houses for his brother. Enlisted in British army in WW. I, as a way to return to England and marry his fiancee. Was in the battle of Ypres, and was one of 5 in his batallion to escape the mustard gas attacks by sheltering in the lee of a barn. Moved back to Calgary with his wife and 2 children in 1920. Had 3 more children. Worked for the next 30 years in a paint factory. | |||||||||||
